My first ever blog, YIKES!!!! Bear with me and hopefully it’s not as nerve-wracking for you as it is for me. I’ve loved photography for as long as I can remember. I thought I was pretty sassy with my disposable camera I’d carry in my fanny pack. Yep, that’s right, I said fanny pack. I loved everything about taking pictures and the memories that were made. I was the annoying one on any family trip snapping 5,000 pictures. I’d take the now obsolete roll of film to have it developed and put the pictures in my own albums and frames. One of my favorite memories from when I was only 9 years old was when I visited Walt Disney World with my dad and sisters. Somewhere tucked away are those pictures waiting to be rediscovered and the memories come back like it was yesterday.
The art of photography and camera technology may be much more advanced now but my love has stayed the same. I started getting serious

about starting my own business five years ago and mainly grew from word of mouth. When I was approached awhile ago about photographing my first ever wedding I was apprehensive at first, knowing the responsibility and pressure that comes with capturing such a special occasion. Ultimately, I decided there was no better time to get my feet wet than now. I knew I couldn’t photograph a whole wedding by myself, so I enlisted one of my dearest friends, Jennifer Campbell. Jennifer has also always had a passion for photography and worked as a product photographer in Alabama during college. Photography took on a new meaning to her when she had to compile a memorial slideshow for her late brother and realized she had very few recent pictures to use. Since then she has tried to take more family pictures and coax others into allowing their picture to be taken as well. She has been my right-hand gal many times during sessions and has captured my own personal images from maternity, birth story, to newborn family lifestyle session. Together we have spurred each other on to become better photographers, editors and business women.
I think if you asked the bride she might tell you we were more stressed out on her wedding day than she was. We truthfully could not have asked for a better bridal party or a more laid-back family. Jennifer has known Kelsey her whole life growing up in church and becoming more like sisters as they faced life’s trials. We knew the wedding day would be hard for Kelsey after losing her mother to cancer at the age of 14 but we were ready for the challenge. There were smiles, tears and laughter as Kelsey and Eric said their handwritten wedding vows. The church was packed wall to wall with guests that came near and far to witness the love these two have for each other. Overall it was such a wonderful experience. What was meant to get our feet wet ended up fully submerging us in all things photography. We dove in and are loving every bit of it. Our next session will be Winfield & Ark City Proms and then a Spring Mini-Session at Botanica in Wichita. Look out world here we come!!! XOXO Kiersten
